Counterfeit brands are rampant in China and are sold at unreasonably low prices in marketplaces.

Huge foreign corporations have complained of trademark violation and due to pressure, China has stepped up its effort to cracked down on fake brands by closing down business retailers... here are some funny fake brand names;

Parking a smart car

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

The smart car... it's been available in Europe for 10 years and many love this 104-inch-long car for its novelty, compact size, low maintenance costs, gas mileage (40 miles or more per gallon)... and the small size helps with parking.

I wonder if that person paid for the parking ticket? haha.. I took this photo in Cardiff, Wales last year. It was amusing at that time and I reckon it still is.

Funny: Robbers and Cops

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

Here's a clever student stunt in the UK... exposing five policemen who are unaware of a crime being committed virtually beneath their nose.

The video shows the students walking to a house where they scale the side of it, remove a box and continue on their way while nearby policemen continue chatting, oblivious to the crime committed.

Somebody called Tomorrownight, who claims to have been part of the hoax, posted a comment on YouTube saying the footage was shot during a military parade.

He adds: "We set up the camera opposite our house while all the police were there, opened the window ajar and three of my friends looked like they were breaking in and stole an empty cardboard box.

"If they did talk to us we could just say that it was our house and we were making a video for university or something.

"It is real in so far as there were police there with the opportunity to arrest us but they didn't even notice. There is absolutely no editing."

Superintendent Steve Swales, a local police commander, failed to see the joke. "Spoof material such as this is not helpful."

The $1000 Ice Cream

Saturday, May 19, 2007

Yummm! Check this out! The Grand Opulence Sundae from Serendipity of New York City and it's made up of the best ingredients... and costs USD $1000.

According to the restaurant, they sell approximately one a month. Made with 5" scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla and covered in 23K edible gold leaf (???), the sundae is drizzled with the world's most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and covered with chunks of rare Chuao chocolate, which is from cocoa beans harvested by the Caribbean Sea on Venezuela's coast.

The masterpiece is suffused with exotic candied fruits from Paris, gold dragets, truffles and Marzipan Cherries. It is topped with a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion Caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, made of salt-free American Golden caviar, known for its sparkling golden color.

It's sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, orange and Armagnac. The sundae is served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with an 18K gold spoon to partake in the indulgenceserved with a petite mother of pearl spoon and topped with a gilded sugar flower by Ron Ben-Israel.

I reckon I'd rather have lotsa nice decently priced ice cream... but I don't mind trying that 23K edible gold leaf!! Anyone wanna sponsor me? heh heh...

Funny: Communication Breakdown

Thursday, May 17, 2007

Hahaha... this is funny! Actually, sometimes things like this do happen in real working life. Hahaha.. the good old days back in KL. ;)

Memo from Director General to Manager
Today at 11 o'clock there will be a total eclipse of the sun. This is when the sun disappears behind the moon for two minutes. As this is something that cannot be seen every day, time will be allowed for employees to view the eclipse in the parking lot. Staff should meet in the lot at ten to eleven, when I will deliver a short speech introducing the eclipse, and giving some background information.Safety goggles will be made available at a small cost.

Memo from Manager to Department Head
Today at ten to eleven, all staff should meet in the car park. This will be followed by a total eclipse of the sun, which will appear for two minutes. For a moderate cost, this will be made safe with goggles. The Director General will deliver a short speech beforehand to give us all some background information. This is not something that can be seen every day.

Memo from Department Head to Floor Manager
The Director General will today deliver a short speech to make the sun disappear for two minutes in the form of an eclipse. This is something that cannot be seen every day, so staff will meet in the car park at ten or eleven. This will be safe, if you pay a moderate cost.

Memo From Floor Manager to Supervisor
Ten or eleven staff are to go to the car park, where the Director General will eclipse the sun for two minutes. This doesn't happen every day. It will be safe, but it will cost you.

Memo from Supervisor to Staff
Some staff will go to the car park today to see the Director general disappear. It is a pity this doesn't happen every day.

My Fave! Yummy French Toast!

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Mmm mmm.. Lately, I've been obssesed with the delicious French Toast... Hong Kong style! The Deep-fried French Toast is filled with creamy Peanut Butter and covered in Golden Syrup and melting butter... yumm!

Couple of days ago, I had the French Toast here in Brisbane... with a 'lil twist, instead of peanut butter filling, it had Kaya! :D~~~ If you don't already know, Kaya is a jam made from coconut milk, eggs which are flavored by pandan leaf and sweetened with sugar. It taste sweet and creamy, available as a golden brown or green colored spread depending on the amount of pandan and extent of carmelization of the sugar.

IMHO, it actually taste better with kaya than peanut butter. *urp* hehe

sheesh... I am getting hungry by just thinking about it.

Sam and Max Webcomic!

Monday, May 14, 2007

Woohoo! This brings so much memories! Sam and Max, baby! I've just recently stumbled upon the webcomic that has been running since late 2006. :D

Sam & Max are a pair of fictional comic book characters who occupy a parody of American popular culture. The characters are probably best known for one of my fave computer game back in 1993, Sam & Max Hit the Road and the more recent Sam & Max episodic series of adventure games.

They are private investigators, or as they like to call themselves, "freelance police". The pair live and work in New York City, but often travel to such places as New Orleans, ancient Egypt, the Philippines, and the Moon.

Their crime fighting technique involves brandishing their oversized guns to intimidate criminals, but more often than not they need to rely on more creative solutions to vanquish evil. When they do use firearms Sam favours a gigantic revolver, while Max prefers a Luger. Sam and Max occasionally receive assignments from a mysterious Commissioner over the phone, but they usually just walk straight into trouble.

Click here! For the webcomic. Oh... the webcomic got nominated for a 2007 Best Digital Comic Eisner Award. Sweet!

Funny: The Original Spider-Man Movie

Saturday, May 12, 2007

hahahaha.. these videos are HILARIOUS! Before the maga blockbusters in the new millenium, Spider-Man had to work part time in Japan to earn a living.

While walking down the street, Spidey got tagged wrestling style! by something that looks like the Thing from Fantastic Four.

Enjoy the clips! Oh... take note of the Spider dance he does before battle... I reckon it gives him extra powers! sheeshh.. I still can't stop laughing!

Spider string! bwahahaha... hilarious!

Whoah!! I reckon this is better than Spider-man III... just imagine what Spidey can do with the robot against gigantic Sandman and Venom... No sweat!

Tony Blair Future Plans

Thursday, May 10, 2007

British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced earlier today that he will formally step down from his post on June 27, a decade after triumphantly leading his Labour party back into power.

Here are his future plans:

Calls Bush, say "You're Next!", hang up.

Hang out with the 'Blair Babes'.

One to ticket to Ibiza please? No, just one way.

Amway.

Ask Tv presenter Ms Pinkham for a few rounds of vodka and Red Bull at Boujis. Get pissed. Get some neck kissing action. Chase photographers outside club.

Every morning check monster.co.uk for job openings under "Prime Ministers".

Three words: Celebrity Big Brother.

Brisbane's Southbank Festival.

Monday, May 07, 2007

Ahh... there was some kind of food festival in Brisbane's Southbank over the weekend and I reckon it was AWESOME!

Lotsa Asian food particularly Taiwanese. It was a little surprising seeing so many AZNs in one place. Good mix of entertainment including lion dance, martial arts exhibition, bands, dances and of course fire works. Very well organized I must say.

Here's a shot of the fireworks with my phone's 2MP camera. Pretty impressive I must say.

Man Utd crowned champions as Chelsea draw at Arsenal

Manchester United won the Premiership for the first time in four years on Sunday as 10-man Chelsea, needing victory to keep the title race alive, could only draw 1-1 at Arsenal.

This would mean that Sir Alex Ferguson has won his ninth Championship trophy as Manchester United manager. Earlier today, Manchester United led the Premiership champions by eight points before the Blues kicked off in north London, with Gilberto Silva putting the home side up in the first half from the penalty spot.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech looks at the ball in his goal after Arsenal's Silva scored his penalty during their Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, London.

Chelsea pulled a goal back, with a second-half strike from Michael Essien, but it wasn't enough to stay in the fight for the Premiership title.

Frank Lampard (left) of Chelsea is watched by Francesc Fabregas of Arsenal.

United have now clinched their first Premiership title since 2003 as they have an unassailable lead of seven points games left - away to Chelsea and their last match of the season, at home to West Ham United.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho embraces John Terry and Frank Lampard after conceding the EPL title to Manchester United with a 1-1 draw at Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho’s side now only have the FA Cup final - on May 19 against Manchester United at the new Wembley Stadium - for their only chance of adding to their silverware this season (having won the League Cup), with the added sting of having to form a guard of honour in front of their own fans when they face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Thusday morning! bwahahahaha!
