Signs that it's too darn cold
Wednesday, June 20, 2007

By 11am today the mercury in Brisbane had climbed to just 11.6 Celsius - six degrees below average.
Not since 1916 has Brisbane's temperature failed to climb above 11 degrees in June. Winds in Brisbane reached 60 km/h, which was enough to bring down trees and a newly built brick wall in the Valley.
Here are some signs that it's too darn cold;
It's so cold, I had to defrost my mail
It's so cold, Peter Beattie restricted to annoying people indoors
It's so cold, people are getting into Brisbane Bus just to warm up
It's so cold, Sophie Monk has been downgraded from "hot" to "lukewarm"
It's so cold, you need jumper cables to get the car going
It's so cold, John Howard looks like a garden gnome
It's so cold, UN inspectors is off to inspect the reactor in Bali
It's so cold, Darren Lockyer is wearing long pants
It's so cold, people are flocking to Today's show with Karl and Lisa for the artificial warmth

Britain's Got Talent - Cute Connie Talbot
Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Everyone was dead silent as six-year-old Connie gave a pretty marvelous rendition of Judy Garland's Somewhere Over The Rainbow in the third audition stage of the talent show.
As the little girl sang it for all it's worth, all three judges, Simon Cowell (!), Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan and the audience listened closely and her performance visibly affected Amanda the most... she bawled her eyes out on live TV! What a talent!

Sam and Max Webcomic!
Monday, May 14, 2007

Sam & Max are a pair of fictional comic book characters who occupy a parody of American popular culture. The characters are probably best known for one of my fave computer game back in 1993, Sam & Max Hit the Road and the more recent Sam & Max episodic series of adventure games.

They are private investigators, or as they like to call themselves, "freelance police". The pair live and work in New York City, but often travel to such places as New Orleans, ancient Egypt, the Philippines, and the Moon.
Their crime fighting technique involves brandishing their oversized guns to intimidate criminals, but more often than not they need to rely on more creative solutions to vanquish evil. When they do use firearms Sam favours a gigantic revolver, while Max prefers a Luger. Sam and Max occasionally receive assignments from a mysterious Commissioner over the phone, but they usually just walk straight into trouble.
