Game Review: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

Monday, July 19, 2004

This game has been keeping me busy at nights for the past 2 weeks. This is the first Game Boy Advance (GBA) game I’ve actually tried playing and surprisingly, it’s really good. The game plot is pretty simple, it revolves around Mario and Luigi’s attempt to catch the villainous Cackletta, a powerful sorceress from a neighboring Kingdom, who steals Princess Peach's voice and replacing her fair speech with explosives.

At first glance, the graphics and the plot seems a bit childish, however, the ingenious storyline with an excellent sense of humour and an interesting gameplay makes up for it. As with all RPGs you start off with basic moves and will gain special moves and tools as your experience level increases from combat. Not only will the game test your reflexes, your mental ability would be challenged as well with many mini-games found through out the quest.

I’m 2/3 done with the game (I think!) and I really enjoy playing the game. I would recommend it to anyone who owns a GBA and haven’t played a good GBA game for a long time.

Ratings (Scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the highest)
